Terry Grossberg
Terry Grossberg studied music education and conducting at Indiana University in Bloomington under the tutelage of Dr. Ray E. Cramer. He performed on trumpet with the Marching Hundred, the Jazz Ensemble with David Baker, the Symphony Orchestra as well as the Wind Ensemble and was lucky enough to be chosen to perform at the ABA/JBA Convention in Japan in 1984.
After four years of teaching in and around the city of Chicago, he took the job of Director of Bands at Waukegan High School. Terry’s WHS band earned Division I Ratings at IHSA Contests and the jazz band was selected as the performing ensemble at the National School Board Convention in San Diego. In addition to three ensemble bands, Terry directed the marching, jazz, pit, and pep ensembles and taught in the classroom, including Fine Arts, Music Theory, and Special Education Music Classes.
In 2002 he joined the staff of Deerfield School District 109 where he was a band and jazz band director. In 2016 he added Instrumental Music Department Chairperson to his duties until his retirement in June of 2022.
Mr. Grossberg became Music Director of Crystal Lake Community Band in August 2022.

Mike Polyack
Mike Polyack is a 1973 graduate of Cary-Grove High School, where he played under the direction of Don Ehrensperger. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Millikin University and Master of Management from Northwestern University. Mike taught band for two years at Rockford West High School and one year in Cary Elementary School District 26, before making a career change to the IT industry, from which he has since retired. He has enjoyed playing in the Crystal Lake Community Band since 2001. He sings with the Chicagoland Voices choir and is very active in the music ministry at SS Peter & Paul Church in Cary. Mike lives in Cary with his wife Theresa. They have four children: Kathryn, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Rebecca.

Mark Bures
Mark Bures
Mark Bures is a 1973 graduate of Cary-Grove High School, where he played trumpet under the direction of Don Ehrensperger. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Western Illinois University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University. Playing trumpet for almost 60 years, Mark studied with Arnold Jacobs, Will Scarlett, Frank Lisanti and William DeJong. His professional experience includes performances with Bob Hope, Rich Little, Mac Davis, Anne Murray and Chet Atkins. Mark taught band for 2 years in Campbell Hill, IL after which he began a 40 year career in risk management. After playing trumpet in the Crystal Lake Community Band for over 20 years, Mark switched instruments and is now a member of the percussion section. Mark lives in Cary with his wife Julie. They have two children, Andy and Maggie, and three grandchildren.
